Waalwijk, The Netherlands, 28 January 2008 – DOCdata N.V. (Euronext Amsterdam: DOCD)

Industrial Automation Integrators (IAI) B.V. enters the market for solar cell production systems.

December 17, 2007

For IAI, the focus of the year 2007 has been on the strategic search for new markets. Part of this was research on the application of the core competences of IAI into these new markets.

The current core competences of IAI are the design, building, installation and maintenance of automated production systems, especially utilising optical and laser technology. The outcome of this research is that these core competences align well with the demand for specialised production systems in the production process of solar cells.

Each type of solar cell requires its own automated production systems to enable production at some scale for an acceptable price. The continuous effort to decrease production costs and increase efficiency of solar cells leads to improvements of existing types, as well as to the introduction of new types.

It is therefore expected that for many years to come there will be a considerable demand for specific, automated production systems in which product handling, laser, optical, vision and software will be important technologies. These items align perfectly with the knowledge and experience of IAI in the existing application areas.

The market for solar cells has at least the following characteristics: market research studies unanimously predict double digit growth rates for many years to come; at the moment, many different types of solar cells are being produced and many different types are being developed; laser operations and product handling are important items for the production of solar cells.

In the meantime, IAI has booked the first order for the delivery of a solar cell production system. With the application of IAI’s knowledge of and experience in laser technology this system realises innovative connection technology for solar cells.

DOCdata intends to shape the market strategy for IAI further in the coming months by entering into partnerships that are necessary to enter into this market for solar cell production systems. Next to this, IAI will continue its attention for existing markets. IAI will introduce new products in the security printing market in order to serve a larger share of this market.

Industrial Automation Integrators (IAI) B.V. in Veldhoven, a subsidiary of DOCdata N.V. in Waalwijk, will supply Passport-Personalisation-Systems to a country in Central Europe.

November 15, 2004

Two different types of systems will be supplied: the BookMaster 220 system already in use in several countries in Western Europe and the BookMaster One system which was introduced at the Intergraf exhibition (“International Security Printers’ & Suppliers’ Exhibition”) in Granada (Spain), last month.

The BookMaster One system takes care of the total personalisation of a passport booklet in one go: a blank booklet is inserted, all personal information is applied and the application is verified by the system. The result is a passport ready for issuing. The BookMaster One includes amongst others the following functionality: laser engraving of photo and data, laser perforation of NumberPerf® and ImagePerf/TLI®, loading biometric data in the chip and quality control of all applied features.

IAI’s patented security features ImagePerf® and ImagePerf/TLI® are very well appreciated by governmental authorities in order to enhance the security of their passports and are already applied in Belgian, Dutch, Estonian, Swiss and Irish passports. In Switzerland, the existing production capacity needs to be extended due to the fact that the number of passport applications by the public exceeds the anticipated number. As before, the equipment will be supplied via main contractor and security printer Orell Füssli in Zürich to the Bundesambt für Bauten und Logistik in Bern.

In Ireland, the Irish Passport Office has decided to implement the security feature ImagePerf/TLI® in the future version of the Irish passport. For that, systems will be delivered via main contractor BearingPoint Ireland Ltd. in Dublin (formerly KPMG Consulting, Inc.) to production facilities of the Irish Passport Office in Dublin and Balbriggan.

After the implementation of IAI's ImagePerf® technology in Belgian, Dutch, Estonian and Swiss passports, this decision of the Irish authorities once again affirms the outstanding value attributed to IAI's ImagePerf® as a security feature.

Security printers François Charles Oberthur Fiduciaire in Paris, France, and De La Rue Global Services in Basingstoke, UK, both supply passports to a large number of countries. In spite of fierce competition, both of them decided in favour of IAI systems for the application of NumberPerf®. For these printers of a variety of passports, the flexibility and versatility of IAI's equipment proved to be decisive.

All of the above systems will be delivered in the course of 2003. The orders represent a turnover of over €4.7 million in total.

These orders clearly demonstrate IAI's steady growth in security printing wehere IAI offers systems for the application of security features to passports, identity cards, banknotes etcetera. IAI is honoured to be awarded these contracts of well-established parties in the security printing market.
