ImagePerf in the new INTERPOL passport

November 24th, 2010

The new INTERPOL e-passport contains a variety of security measures and a number of them are applied by IAI´s BookMaster One systems. BookMaster systems perform the programming of the electronic chip, the laser engraving of the polycarbonate data page, the application of the high level security feature ImagePerf and the perforation of a passport number through the visa pages of the passport.

The INTERPOL e-passport was awarded to the EDAPS Consortium in Ukraine, which employs IAI´s BookMaster One systems for the personalisation of the Ukrainian passport. "The quality of the features offered in EDAPS´ e-passport and the ability of the company´s sophisticated plant, workforce and system of production proved decisive in its selection by INTERPOL to lead the e-passport initiative," concluded INTERPOL Secretary General Ronald K. Noble.

INTERPOL President Khoo Boon Hui recognises the strength of IAI´s laser applied security features among others, when he states that: "The INTERPOL passport contains state-of-the-art features that will not only facilitate the carrying out of important INTERPOL business worldwide, but will also serve as an example for the standards which should be implemented worldwide for travel document security."

INTERPOL is an international organisation that aims to join efforts of national law enforcement bodies of its 187 member countries in combating crime. The organisation introduced the new e-passport to enable its staff to travel internationally without requiring a visa when assisting in transnational investigations or urgent deployments to incidents.

IAI invests in new laser technology

June 14th, 2010

IAI industrial systems B.V. has acquired a high power excimer laser system, named Sirius 1000, from the Nederlands Centrum voor Laser Research (NCLR) B.V. located in Enschede.

IAI also took over several employees and acquired a license to reproduce the laser for any industrial application that might benefit from the deployment of this laser.

The Sirius 1000 is a unique gas discharge laser combining high average output power of 1.000 Watts UV and an excellent beam quality. This makes the laser a very suitable tool for efficient material processing.

IAI is an expert in incorporating lasers and optical technology in innovative industrial material-processing applications, such as in security printing, in solar wafer and module production and in special systems for other markets.

IAI can offer application development on the Sirius 1000 laser. If successful, IAI can design, supply, install and maintain production systems incorporating the Sirius 1000 laser.

This investment again confirms IAI´s ambition to supply production equipment, adding high value to the customer´s production, based on laser and optical technology.

Industrial Automation Integrators (IAI) B.V. will supply systems to the Government Printing Works of South Africa.

April 14, 2008

IAI will supply a SheetMaster Flex system and a WebMaster Flex system to the Government of South Africa (Government Printing Works), to enhance the security of documents.

These systems are especially designed to process documents other than banknotes, passports and ID-cards for which IAI offers dedicated systems. Because of the huge variety in such documents worldwide, the systems need to be very flexible in order to meet the requirements of a large portion of these documents.

Both systems offer laser-perforation and inkjet-printing in numerous variations. The SheetMaster Flex system processes documents printed in sheet, whereas the WebMaster Flex system processes documents printed in web.

The new systems add to the range of IAI-products for the Security Printing market. This allows IAI to profit from its excellent reputation by offering systems for a market segment which is hardly served by any company yet.

Industrial Automation Integrators (IAI) B.V. will supply passport personalisation systems to Algeria.

January 28, 2008

IAI will supply BookMaster One systems for the personalization of passports to Hotel des Monnaies, a department of the Banque d´Algerie. This department will use the systems for the personalization of Algerian passports.

BookMaster One systems are one of IAI’s latest developments. They perform the entire personalisation of passports in one pass through the system, including quality verification of all processing done. This means that blanc passports are inserted in the system, all personal information is applied, and fully personalized books appear at the output ready for issuing.

At present BookMaster One systems are already employed in the personalisation of Swiss and Ukranian passports. Other IAI systems are employed in the processing of passports for countries such as: Belgium, The Netherlands, Portugal, United Kingdom, Costa Rica, Ireland, Sweden, Estonia and Canada.

The BookMaster One systems for Algeria will be commissioned in 2008. The decision of the Algerian authorities in favour of IAI’s systems confirms and strengthens IAI’s position as a prominent supplier to the Security Printing market which produces products such as passports, ID-cards, divers’ licenses, banknotes and other securities.

Industrial Automation Integrators (IAI) B.V. enters the market for solar cell production systems.

December 17, 2007

For IAI, the focus of the year 2007 has been on the strategic search for new markets. Part of this was research on the application of the core competences of IAI into these new markets.

The current core competences of IAI are the design, building, installation and maintenance of automated production systems, especially utilising optical and laser technology. The outcome of this research is that these core competences align well with the demand for specialised production systems in the production process of solar cells.

Each type of solar cell requires its own automated production systems to enable production at some scale for an acceptable price. The continuous effort to decrease production costs and increase efficiency of solar cells leads to improvements of existing types, as well as to the introduction of new types.

It is therefore expected that for many years to come there will be a considerable demand for specific, automated production systems in which product handling, laser, optical, vision and software will be important technologies. These items align perfectly with the knowledge and experience of IAI in the existing application areas.

The market for solar cells has at least the following characteristics: market research studies unanimously predict double digit growth rates for many years to come; at the moment, many different types of solar cells are being produced and many different types are being developed; laser operations and product handling are important items for the production of solar cells.

In the meantime, IAI has booked the first order for the delivery of a solar cell production system. With the application of IAI’s knowledge of and experience in laser technology this system realises innovative connection technology for solar cells.

DOCdata intends to shape the market strategy for IAI further in the coming months by entering into partnerships that are necessary to enter into this market for solar cell production systems. Next to this, IAI will continue its attention for existing markets. IAI will introduce new products in the security printing market in order to serve a larger share of this market.
