LASER ENGRAVING

One of the options for personalising a passport, is laser engraving of the polycarbonate data page of the passport book. IAI's BookMaster One system is capable of engraving passports. The laser can engrave the photograph, the personal data, the signature and the MRZ data of the passport's holder.

The photograph, personal data and signature are positioned relative to an fiducial pre-printed on the data page. The MRZ data is positioned relative to the bottom of the page. The photograph is created using 256 grey scale levels. The personal data, signature and MRZ data are created in black.
