Identity day: Celebrating security, inclusion, and recognition

As a market leader in the passport and ID card personalisation industry, IAI consistently strives for innovation to enhance identity protection and empower not only secure documents but also the security of the citizens they represent. In 2025, a time when identity protection and security face daily threats, the privilege of having a secure identity should not be overlooked. It's important to remember we share the global mission to ensure everyone feels secure, protected, and recognised as a true individual within their community.

Millions of people around the world still live without any form of identity. They lack access to basic human needs such as medical care, education, legal protection, and financial services, rights that are fundamental to many. These are people who are unable to exercise their human right to possess an identity.

Today, on September 16th, we at IAI, together with more than 300 coalition partners, proudly celebrate Identity Day and support the initiative led by ID4Africa to establish global recognition of this date. Identity Day highlights the importance of having verifiable proof of identity. On this occasion, we highlight the importance of identity inclusion for the entire population. At the same time, it is essential for those of us who do possess identity documents, to ensure they are secure and protected against forgery and counterfeiting. This is where our role as a company specialising in the personalisation of identity documents becomes essential. We are committed to safeguarding every document we personalise, using advanced solutions designed to prevent counterfeiting and elevate document integrity.

Delivering such solutions goes beyond a basic responsibility— at IAI, we benchmark the security level of global identities to protect both identity documents and the citizens they belong to. We are glad to participate in this initiative, and together with our colleagues, we took a moment to show our support for the campaign, highlighting the diversity in society and visually representing this year’s theme, using umbrellas as a symbol of identitya constant form of protection, both present and essential.

Let us remember that our identity is our umbrella!
